Best choice

The Spritzer produces bright, hot and delicious seltzer and can carbonate drinks such as juice, tea and wine. Its small size allows it to be stowed away in a drawer and can easily be upgraded with additional purchases such as a stand or metal bottle.
The Portable Drinkmate Spritzer is a portable carbonator that’s small enough to fit in your kitchen drawer, backpack, Airbnb drawer, or closet, but still has all the functionality of a great countertop carbonator for all your drinks. With a pistol-style trigger instead of a button, you can easily increase or decrease the carbonation level at your discretion depending on how many times you press it. And the bubbles remain fizzy and energetic for more than half an hour, especially if you keep the bottle closed after carbonation.
It produces powerful bubbles in every drink. We tested the Spritzer with room temperature water, chilled water, and chilled apple juice and were able to achieve bright, active, and fizzy bubbles in all three cases.
Please note: When you carbonate non-aqueous liquids, foaming is inevitable, even in a Spritzer. To minimize leakage, only fill the bottle halfway when carbonating anything particularly sweet, or when carbonating any non-aqueous liquid for the first time, as knowing how much liquid will foam can take some practice.
When carbonating, wait between trigger pulls for the foam to settle before tilting the bottle forward and removing it from the soda machine. Once you remove the bottle, a mechanism in the cap allows you to gradually release pressure to prevent the drink from foaming. But just in case, we also recommend holding the bottle over the sink.
It’s ergonomic. We have found that it is easier to snap the cap on the carbonation bottle and easier to replace the CO.2 cans of Drinkmate Spritzer than any other soda brand we tested.
Instead of feeling and pinching plastic panels, tipping over machines to find canister slots, and balancing heavy canisters with one hand, we simply screwed both the lighter, smaller 3-ounce canister and the full-size 14.5-ounce canister into place. If you purchase a Spritzer stand for use with larger canisters, you will find, as we did, that it fits easily and feels durable. Of all the soda brands our panel of paid testers tried, Spritzer was the clear favorite due to ease of use.
With a few extras, this is a great desktop machine. The Spritzer has all the features we loved about our previous favorite, the Drinkmate OmniFizz, but what sets it apart is how easily you can attach accessories sold separately to customize it to your liking, while typically spending less than on fancy, less-featured competing soda makers.
If you want the ability to use the Spritzer on a countertop, you can buy a stand from Drinkmate for $20. You can also purchase the larger 1L bottle as it is also compatible with the machine.
You can even invest in a stainless steel soda bottle. At $55, the steel bottle seems a little pricey, but even if you buy both the bottle and the stand, you’ll still be spending less than Drinkmate’s luxury offering, the $300 Drinkmate Lux. The Lux comes with a stainless steel bottle and produces a seltzer similar to the Spritzer, but is a little more difficult to use.
It is compatible with most standard CO2 cylinders. The Spritzer comes with two 3-ounce CO canisters.2 canister, but it is also compatible with any standard size 60 liter screw-in CO cylinder.2 cylinder. CO2 The cylinder slides easily into the stand and is even easier to replace than conventional stationary soda makers like the Breville InFizz Fusion and Drinkmate OmniFizz.
As is the case with many soda brands, the canisters are brand-agnostic, so you can use SodaStream canisters, available at many big box stores (just make sure you get the blue label type and not the pink Quick Connect version). If you prefer to use mail-in cylinder exchange programs, Drinkmate and Soda Sense offer them.
It comes with a two-year warranty against defects. Drinkmate will repair or replace the defective product and pay for shipping. However, please note that for warranty claims, the company also requires proof of purchase.
Disadvantages, but not deal breakers
It may not make enough seltzer for your needs. If you have a lot of seltzer in your household, keep in mind that this soda machine only comes with a half-liter bottle. For larger capacities, you will need to purchase the standard 1 liter size bottle separately through Drinkmate.
The trigger takes some getting used to. If you’re used to a regular soda maker with a button or lever on the top of the machine, the shape of this machine’s trigger requires a bit of a learning curve. On our first two attempts, we accidentally pulled the trigger while trying to get the bottle into place. But we quickly got used to its location and during testing we no longer encountered this problem.
